LIGHT (and variant surname ancestors & allied families)
Once circulated postcards of this image included some with the little “outhouse” on the left removed (long before Photoshop) — surely suggesting it was indeed an outhouse! This may be the same photo included in The Lebanon County Historical Society's J. Jacob Embich photograph album. Creator: Embich, J. Jacob (1846-1921)
Croll, Philip Columbus. Ancient and Historic Landmarks in the Lebanon Valley, “A Walk About Steitztown” pp. 98–103. Philadelphia: Lutheran Publication Society, 1895. Copy consulted at the Library of Congress, Washington, D.C.
Light’s Fort, aka the “Old Fort”, ~1895. Appears to be the same photo that was published in Croll’s “A Walk About Steitztown” without photographer credit. Daniel Light (1818-1865, great grandson of Johannes Leicht, builder of the Fort) built the brick house alongside some 80 years later. It was razed in October of 2016.
